sun bum review

Hey everyone! I hope you all had amazing summers and that getting back into school hasn't been too terrible 😌 (I know at least that I'm going to miss summertime!)

I really should have done this post earlier in the summer because most people would consider this brand a summer brand, but I wanted to make sure that I really used it and tried it for a while before I gave my opinion on it!

So anyway, today I am going to be reviewing some Sun Bum products! I know they've been pretty hyped up these past few months with lots of summery and aesthetic pictures all over the internet, but what I wanted to know was if it was really worth it, or if it was just some trendy thing that people were posting pics of 😂 So, as we were looking to stock up on sunscreen and stuff before we went to Hawaii earlier this summer, I decided to research Sun Bum!

I found that even though they are a bit pricier than other brands, they have very natural + safe ingredients that are way less (if at all) harmful to your body and even the environment! I'm into natural things when possible, so that was nice to find :)

So, we ended up ordering some spray sunscreens in SPF 30, the face stick sunscreen (also SPF 30), and then the after sun cool down lotion. Later on, I also decided I might as well try adding the SPF lip balm to my collection (because of some deal going on, I got it for 50 cents!!). And then, a couple weeks ago I just happened to see their shampoo and conditioner on Amazon on sale, so I got that too! (ALSO, I want to give a shoutout to Jenna! She has worked with SB before and she was so nice to give me her code, which made us get a great discount on the sunscreens!)

Anyway though, now I'm going to get into the actual review! (haha sorry my posts are always too long, but at least I don't leave anything out, right?!)

First up, the spray sunscreen. What I really loved about this one was that it doesn't show up at all on your skin (e.g., no ghost looking layer)! You just spray it on, and within a few seconds it's completely soaked into your skin, and you can't see it or feel it at all! The first few times we sprayed this, it did smell a little bit like alcohol, but after a bit then that went away and it smelled like coconuts. My cousins who were with us on the trip kept wanting to use it because it smelled so good! And we also all loved it because it most importantly kept us from getting burned! I'm not very good at remembering to reapply, but I noticed that even if I just used it twice a day (with me being outside in the sun literally all day), it protected me very well! My younger siblings were using it regularly, and they never got burned the whole trip, and my mom didn't get burned at all either, until we ran out and she had to use a different sunscreen instead--which then she got a pretty good burn. Of course everyone's skin is different/their sun sensitivity, but it worked for us, so I would definitely recommend this product! It works amazing, smells good, and is very natural :)

Next is the sunscreen face stick. This one does smell absolutely amazing. No funny sunscreen smells here! This was also great for sun protection, and it was my mom's favorite. I will say that it was (wayy) smaller than we expected though, especially for the price! I'm not sure if there are face sticks by other brands that are just as good but cheaper, but for the actual product, it worked great!!

The next thing I got was the sunscreen lip balm in the flavor mango! Even though my face did get burned a couple times, my lips never did get burned (and I was reapplying this pretty often) so I think this works! It also tastes and even smells delicious 😍 It's hard to keep it on for long because I feel like it's yummy enough to eat! One thing I will say about this though is that it's not very waxy, more of a coconut oil texture. That means it doesn't exactly feel like it stays on super long, but I guess the SPF and yummy flavor makes up for that :)

This one is my favorite product! The after sun cool down lotion. When I got sunburned those few times in Hawaii, I put it all over my face and shoulders/back/neck and by the next day or two it had completely turned into a tan! I also never peeled *at all* using this stuff, which is pretty rare. But anyway, I was loving this lotion so much in Hawaii that when I got home, I just kept on using it as a moisturizer for my face since I was still going out in the sun. I think I've been using it for 2+ months and I haven't broken out at all from it! This is definitely my new favorite face moisturizer, and I think it's a great price for such a large container! 100% recommend this one :))

And lastly, the shampoo and conditioner. I haven't been using these as long (I think I've only used them 4 or 5 times), but I'll still include my first impressions of them :) So first the shampoo...I will say I haven't been impressed by this one. I don't know if I'm not using enough (maybe you're supposed to use wayyy more than regular shampoo??) or what, but so far it hasn't seemed to clean my hair very well. It's doesn't lather very well, so parts of my hair were still left oily and after my hair dried I noticed and had to go back and wash my hair again with my normal shampoo! So idk if i'm not using enough or not spending enough time lathering it in, but at this point I wouldn't recommend this one :/

As for the conditioner though, I haven't had any problems. It's nothing amazing, but I do think it moisturizes pretty decently, and it has a nice smell :)

So what's my overall opinion on Sun Bum? I think that they make great, natural summer care products and I'm definitely going to be ordering more! Aside from the higher price point (although ig you should expect that when it's quality :)) and my experience with the flop on the hair products, I would recommend you all check out their products! It seems to me like it's more than just trendy--it's actually good stuff :)

Well, I hope this post was helpful to some of you!! If you guys have any other brands or products that you're curious about, definitely let me know, and maybe I'll try some out and review them for you!! And don't forget to like this post if you enjoyed it ;)

Lots of love, and happy back to school!

💛Glo
